The accession consists of 286 35mm black and white slides and 96 glass lantern slides which illustrate the scientific work and achievements of Scripps Institution of Oceanography Associate Engineer Frank Snodgrass from 1953-1976. The glass lantern slides include slides depicting data on internal waves, stratified fluid tidal equations, Progue measurements and equation of state of sea water. The 35mm slides include schematics, data, images of instruments designed by Frank Snodgrass, images of research vessels and the campus of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, images of the ocean bottom, and a few portraits of Frank Snodgrass. While the images include items dated 1953-1976, the accession largely documents Frank Snodgrass's work during the period 1961-1975 when he was working closely with Walter H. Munk.
